After a liquid, said to be corrosive, was thrown at her and another teenager outside Westminster Academy in Westbourne Park, West London, a 14-year-old student suffered significant injuries. Trying to help the victims, a staff member also received injuries. Following the Monday afternoon incident—which happened outside school hours—the girl is now in hospital with possibly life-changing injuries.

Who is the Suspect?

The Metropolitan Police claims that a male suspect approached the two teenagers on Alfred Road and tossed the drug at them before running along Harrow Road. The suspect, a tall and skinny black man on an e-scooter, was described by the cops as darkly clothed. As the man rode the e-scooter to and from the site, his face was hidden, maybe under a mask or balaclava.

What Are the Victims' Injuries?

Although he is still in the hospital, the injured adolescent lad, sixteen, is said to have non-life-changing injuries. Since then, a 27-year-old female employee has been let go. Westminster Academy emphasized that the wounded lad is public rather than a student of the institution.

The London Ambulance Service sent two police officers to the hospital on a precautionary basis after they reported feeling sick but were subsequently released.

How Did Emergency Services Respond?

Following a staff member’s flag down on Alfred Road, Met Police officials attended. Two fire companies from the London Fire Brigade and hazardous materials experts were also sent to the area to guarantee safety. Metropolitan Police spokesman said, “Tests of the drug are continuing. Officers, at this point, think it to be acidic.

Why Was the School Closed, and How Did the Community Respond?

Given the tragedy, Westminster Academy closed its doors; many staff members now work from home, and classes are conducted online. The school canceled an open morning for potential students set for Tuesday.

“This was a distressing incident which took place after school hours when staff members and students were leaving the school site,” the principal said. This is a trying period for our community. Hence, I decided to close the school today so that a comprehensive investigation could occur and guarantee that the school could reopen tomorrow with all necessary safety precautions.

She said, “We will have counselors and other onsite help accessible; we are working with the local authorities. Our first concern has always been the wellbeing of the Westminster Academy pupils; this is still true today. Noting, “This will not be helpful and may compromise the investigation,” the principal recommended against conjecture about the nature of the occurrence.

What Support is Available to the Community?

Emphasizing the local authorities’ dedication to helping the school, the Westminster City Council leader denounced the incident as “truly shocking.” “The council has been in touch with Westminster Academy, and we will supply educational psychologists and any other support to help children through what a traumatic ordeal is,” he said.

Concerned about the larger community, he said, ” Clearly, this attack will be unsettling for the whole academy and the wider community, and we will be working with police to provide reassurance and whatever support we can.”

While inquiries continue, many crime scenes remain in situ as officials try to compile additional data on this alarming occurrence.
